 How were they pointless? That your Makefile isn't POSIX-compliant
 and that NetBSD's make may or may not be POSIX-compliant have nothing
 to do with each other. Just fix your makefile and be done with it; I
 don't know why you're so intent on finding a problem with NetBSD's
 make. There is no problem. The problem is in your makefile.
