>Description:
Boot floppies generate, "NetBSD/i386 ustarfs Primary Bootstrap" then hang. Failure occurs on multiple (all) machines of this type. Removal of PCMCIA network card from machine does not fix. This is a 486/75Mhz machine with 32 Mb RAM. These same computers _will_ boot and install NetBSD 1.6.* from floppy, _with_ any of several PCMCIA network cards installed. The same floppy that fails on these machines will boot and install NetBSD 2.0 onto the only other notebook computer I've tried it on (Toshiba Satellite 410CDT)... I repeated the process with several different floppies and different images, using only floppies generated on NetBSD systems that format and verify 100% free of errors via fdformat... Failed images are boot1.fs, bootlap1.fs, and boot-tiny.fs. Images written to diskettes with: "dd if=boot1.fs bs=18k of=/dev/rfd0a"...
