Since pkgsrc has a history of nitpicking its variable names' correctness
of grammar...  8-)

In bsd.pkg.mk, introduced in 1.884 (whee, that was a while ago):

_EXTRACT_SUFFICES+=	...

According to M-W and OED, "suffices" is not a correct plural of the noun
"suffix"; rather, it is the singular present tense of the verb "suffice".
