>Description:
something recently broke 'make install' as an unprivileged user:

% make install
=> Fixing buildlink references in files-to-be-installed.
===> Installing for bzip2-1.0.2
===> Becoming root@mofo to install bzip2.
sudo ===> Checking for vulnerabilities in bzip2-1.0.2
%

the same behaviour is observed when using SU_CMD=su, as well as on Linux.

>How-To-Repeat:
run 'make install' as an unprivileged user.
