when building fam, fam/Listener.c++:208 uses setenv("TMPDIR")
since the is no setenv on irix this breaks the build

i've replaced fam/Listener.c++:208 

-setenv("TMPDIR")
+putenv("TMPDIR")

this seems to work fine,
however i'm not 100% sure this is the best solution.
