>Description:
I built Xrender-0.8.3nb1 with gcc3-c-3.3.1 and
libtool-base-1.4.20010614nb14 and binutils-2.14.0.0 and pkgconfig-0.15.0
and render-0.8 (under Linux).

The pkgsrc install said:

/bin/ls: /usr/lib/libXrender.so.1.2: No such file or directory
===> Registering installation for Xrender-0.8.3nb1
pkg_create: can't stat `/usr/lib/libXrender.so.1.2'

The file it installed is:

 -rwxr-xr-x 1 bin bin 32629 Sep 24 04:00 /usr/lib/libXrender.so.1.2.2

(Notice the extra ".2".)

Maybe look inside the Makefile* to see how libtool is called.
