Consider a system where / is not large enough to hold all of /var.
One common strategy is to move /var into /usr/var.
"build.sh install=/" breaks this.
>How-To-Repeat:
Move /var to /usr/var. Symlink /var->/usr/var. Run install.
>Fix:
The mtree stuff should follow the /var symlink, and check mode
and permissions on that, not on the actual inode in /.
