This has been discussed a few times. I think I do agree with you for some
common utilities because it makes it easier for the new user.

On the other hand, many utilities are developed with getopt(3) so it may
not make sense to document each tool for this.

(The "--" is documented in the getopt(3) and getopt(1) manual pages.)
