I would indeed appreciate if it were included in NetBSD pkgsrc.

It might even be good to directly integrate the modern version of 'host'
into the base NetBSD release.

Since the original has now been withdrawn from distribution by NIKHEF I
will create an official full release of my version very soon and
announce it on Freshmeat, etc.  I guess I'll also release my versions of
vrfy, ping, and mabye even traceroute too.

No, that's not the correct solution -- the only correct solution is to
never ever build the broken old versions of "host" distributed by ISC.

(which of course means the ancient broken old verison of host included
in NetBSD should never ever be built and used either!)
