Xfree86-4.2 randomly crashes (espescially when system is on heavy load), system beep beeps, keyboard & mouse become unusable. However i can switch to console mode (CTRL+ALT+F1) and blindly type commands. I can ssh to the machine and use the computer normally, even startx again, it does works except that it is no longer possible to switch back to console mode (CTRL+ALT+Fx).
shutdown -h or -r fails to perform while in that state ( ssh connection is closed but the system then hangs )
