System: NetBSD dec 1.4.3 NetBSD 1.4.3 (GENERIC) #73: Thu Nov 2 02:23:29 EST 2000 root@vlad:/usr/src/sys/arch/pmax/compile/GENERIC pmax

>Description:
Upgrading from 1.4.1 to 1.4.3 (the only tested case), extraction
of base.tgz fails, in my case around the setting of privileges in
/usr/share. Pax complains that / is full. The extraction of of that set
fails, which will lead to the non-fulfillment of the upgrade.

>How-To-Repeat:
Boot install.tgz, initiate an upgrade process, wait for extraction
of base.tgz to fail.
>Fix:
Short term, end user - run "rm /etc/*pwd*" before starting the
upgrade. That frees a few K up on the RAM disk.
Definitive fix - Make the RAM disk slightly bigger. Allow for at
least 80 K more free space on the ramfs.
