I'm new to BSD's.. I picked NetBSD because it looks solid and cross-
platform friendly.

I want to use a seagate ATAPI tape drive, but the 1.5 generic kernel 
detects it as 'uk0', unknown device.

Internet searches suggest that FreeBSD's kernel supports a device 
called "atapist", which is support for atapi tape drives.

I couldn't find anything similar for NetBSD's kernel config... I'm 
curious if/when this will be added to NetBSD, or if I should just 
install FreeBSD instead.
