Doh.  I meant to say I also tried repeated combinations of
CTRL-ALT-ESC and "reboot", on the off chance that I was in DDB and it
was listening, even if it wasn't displaying.  But I don't know if DDB
will "listen" to the keyboard at all in that situation.

I'll get more info...
