The console screen updating acts really weird. After the first few lines
from the kernel (copyright, cpu, etc.) the screen seems to freeze. The next
time something happens is when I see the login prompt. I can login (not
that the screen updates anymore), and start X and get out of trouble. If I
return to eg. reboot, I have to do it once again ``with a blindfold on''.

Boot -current at least on my laptop (hp omnibook xe2) and observe.

workaround:
Seems like Luke's suggestion of removing the call to vga_setscreentype()
in dev/ic/vga.c:vga_init() makes the problem go away.
