The "skill" package allows you to kill processes by name. But the
interfaces it uses truncate process names to 16 characters, so if you
want to kill a process with a longer name than that, you have to
truncate it yourself as well. Eg:
> skill long-process-name
skill: no matching processes
> skill long-process-nam
