	cannot mount nfs fs from two i386 machines, both running 1.4R.
	amd doesn't mount the exported fs.
	mount_nfs seems to mount them w/o any success.
	kill -TERM 192 (i.e. mountd) doesn't kill it
	killing (-9) all of the mountd spawned processes, and restarting mountd on the server doesn't help
