NetBSD wegener 1.4 NetBSD 1.4 (GENERIC) #0: Sun May 9 03:00:22 MEST 1999 pk@flambard:/usr/src/sys/arch/sparc/compile/GENERIC sparc

>Description:
System is a Sun SPARCstation ELC OpenPROM version 2.4, 24MB RAM.

When mounting root, or any other filesystem from a Solaris 7 server using
NFS, files can be deleted but not created.

Affects diskless install as you can't create /dev devices locally.

Same system panics as in port-sparc/7678 if root filesystem on a
RedHat Linux 6.0 system. (identical copies of filesystem & swap)
>How-To-Repeat:
Boot system, after being asked for shell and typing return to get
systemname# prompt type:-

systemname# touch /tmp/eep
touch: /tmp/eep: Inappropriate file type or format
systemname#

On Solaris system:
/etc/bootparams:
wegener root=fred:/export/wegener/root swap=fred:/export/wegener/swap

/etc/dfs/dfstab:
share -F nfs -o rw=@10.0.0,root=@10.0.0 /export/wegener

On NetBSD system:-
/etc/fstab:fred:/export/wegener/swap none swap sw,nfsmntpt=/swap
fred:/export/wegener/root / nfs rw 0 0
