>Release: 1.4
>Environment:
DECstation 5000/240 with VT terminal as console

System: NetBSD phxtst08 1.3.3 NetBSD 1.3.3 (GENERIC) #0: Sat Dec 12 15:08:02 EST 1998 root@vlad:/usr/src/sys/arch/pmax/compile/GENERIC pmax

>Description:
Installing NetBSD/pmax 1.4 on a DECstation without a framebuffer,
using a VT320 terminal at 9600 baud is an order of magnitude slower than with
1.3.3. In that release, one could choose to view filenames as they were
unpacked. In 1.4, sysinst insists on displaying every filename as it is
unpacked. This, combined with the way the scrolled region is implemented
(total redraw for each line) is a massive loss for those of us getting good
service from DECstations as NetBSD-based servers. Please remember that not
everyone has a framebuffer or graphics card in their NetBSD system.

>How-To-Repeat:
Install NetBSD/pmax 1.4

>Fix:
None that I know of. Maybe it's possible to exit sysinst and change
the baud rate after initial boot, but I wouldn't know how.
