It's worse than that - it does the wrong thing with EOF, too.  Try
setting your eofc to something other than ^D - you'll find that ^D is
EOF on the FTP command line and your eofc is ignored.

I submitted PR 3982 on the eofc subject.  It was closed by perry:

Fixed in -current for weeks and.
weeks.

Yet when I checked in -current a few weeks after that, I found it still
misbehaved as described in the PR.  I've never tried to re-open or
re-submit it; if Perry thinks the current behavior isn't broken, it's
unlikely to be changed, regardless of how broken I think it is.

Incidentally, as I mentioned in 3982, gdb handles EOF right.  I just
now checked, and it handles word-kill right too (though it has an
annoying tendency to beep when word-killing on an empty line).
