I doubt that for two reasons:

1.) If my Amiga runs with only two memory segments the new SIMMs are still
    in use. The 8MB that are unused are in that system for years and
    never caused trouble.

2.) I don't think that bad memory would cause a bug which can be reproduced
    that precisely.
