System: AcerNote 730i, 4 Mb RAM, 125 Mb diskspace

the kernel seems to boot correctly, but when it is supposed to display the
graphical interface, it displays this strange message:

root file system type: ffs
erase ^?, werase ^W, kill ^U, intr ^C

then it hangs :(

I testet the disk on another machine, it is OK, seems to be a hardware prob.
