[Again, apologies for not using send-pr.]

NetBSD 1.0 i386.

When I start a SLIP connection, it works for a few minutes, getting a
few silo overflows, then the connection freezes. The modem doesn't
indicate any characters being sent. The rest of the system continues
functioning. I could live with the silo overflows, but why does
the SLIP connection hang?

The machine is a 386DX33 EISA with 16Mb RAM. The serial port is on an
anonymous multi-function I/O card, and is identified at boot time as
"ns82450 or ns16450, no fifo", and the tty is set to 38400 baud. The
modem is 14.4k.

SLIP worked fine (no silo overflows) using the sio driver under
FreeBSD 1.1.5.1.
