I've noticed this on this notebook with flaky built-in 16450 chips -
setting the protocol parameters cured it:

protocol g
protocol-parameter	g	packet-size	256
protocol-parameter	g	errors		500
protocol-parameter	g	retries		15
protocol-parameter	g	timeout		6
protocol-parameter	g	short-packets	true

I think it's due to silo overruns (I get them quite often) and the
large packet size uucico negotiates if both sides are capable of it.

I'm using UUCP quite heavily and the only problem I have is the eroneous
"Line disconnected" message if I set debugging level to 0 - with
"-x chat,handshake" everything works fine.
