it's rather pointless to supply bug reports to the install scripts
via gnats, at this point in the game, you know, especially they're
going to start being seriously tested "for real" in a day or two.

if you find bugs like this, report them to me.  Since i'm working on
them for real right now, your bug reports can't be avoided.  8-)
In the future, gnats may be the right way to report them, but it's not
right now.
