I am trying to get my TANDBERG 3600 working under current ( as of end
of April ), without success .

That's, um, strange. I have one of those drives connected to an Adaptec
1542B, and it works just fine. In fact, a certain company which shall
remain nameless ships tapes to customers that were written on it!

It's possible that the mode select hack in st.c simply doesn't work with
the firmware revision you have. There are a few reasons for this; not
the least of which is that it doesn't pay any attention to whether or
not the values are writable before trying to write them.

If it weren't for the fact that Tandberg decided to insist on returing/
writing a damned mode page, nobody would have to care about this.
