A bug of this type was reported in the NetBSD 0.9 novell ether driver.

If you switch to NetBSD-current, it comes with a version of the ed
driver that has Novell ethernet support merged in. We have not
received reports of packedt-duplication with this driver.

You may also be able to lift the NetBSD-current version of the ed
driver, and try to integrate it into your NetBSD 0.9 sources. We
really can't help you with any problems that you encounter down that path.
