pkgsrc-2025Q4 released
The pkgsrc developers are proud to announce pkgsrc-2025Q4, the 89th
quarterly release of pkgsrc, the cross-platform packaging system.
pkgsrc contains over 29,000 packages. More information on pkgsrc
is available at https://www.pkgsrc.org/.
Since the last release (2025Q3), 112 packages were added, 2326 packages
were updated (1472 distinct ones), 2 packages were downgraded, and 20
packages were removed.
Notable package additions were:
- firefox140, which is now the new firefox stable release
- sndio, the audio framework commonly used in OpenBSD
- fpc, a Pascal compiler
- nodejs24, for users who want to keep using the 24.x release series
- msedit, an editor inspired by MS-DOS Editor
- warsow, a free first-person shooter game
- amoebax, an action-puzzle game
Notable package updates were:
- LXQt 2.3.0
- Xfce - various minor updates to core components
- CDE 2.5.3
- Musescore 4.6.5
- QEMU 10.1.3
- Qt 6.10.1
- ffmpeg 8.0.1
- nodejs v25.2.1
- Go 1.25.5 as the default Go version
- Rust 1.90
- Chromium 143.0.7499.109
- Firefox 145.0.2
- PostgreSQL 13.23, 14.20, 15.15, 16.11, 17.7, 18.1
- PHP 8.3.28, 8.4.15
- Ruby 3.3.10, 3.4.7
- qgis 3.44.5
- Python 3.14, 3.13.11, 3.12.12, 3.11.14
Notable package removals were:
- Python 3.9
