Changes to the Packages Collection in June 1999
===============================================

As well as minor changes to the package collection itself, a large
number of Japanese packages were added this month, for which a huge
thanks goes out to the Japanese developers responsible.  Notable new
packages include:  acroread, chipmunk, freezetag, giram, grepmail,
id3ed, kterm, majordomo, musicbox, ngrep, various Perl5 frontends,
sendfile, sketch, the ham category and some packages, tvtwm, vipec,
xbaord, xconq and zebra and Japanese versions of a2ps, gawk, grep,
groff, magicpoint, the NetBSD man pages, and sed.  Notable updates to
packages include:  a2ps, afterstep, analog, communicator/navigator,
ethereal, only one new version of fetchmail, fltk, gcombust, gqmpeg,
htmldoc, ImageMagick, kde, lsof, lyx, magicpoint, mtools, mutt,
postfix, ptl2, rxvt/rclock, smalleiffel, squid, windowmaker, xemacs,
xkeycaps, xlockmore, xmcd, xv, zebra and zoularis.

And this month's "Cool Package" award goes to majordomo, nominated
by Christoph Badura, along with applause and thanks to Brook Milligan
for making the package in the first place, and for various other
iterations of it, shaking out bugs.  Whilst majordomo isn't new,
it can be difficult to configure, and Brook's work minimises this -
part of what pkgsrc is all about.

Changes to the NetBSD packages collection itself
================================================

	bsd.pkg.mk: Package names can now be subsets of each other, i.e.
		"foo-x.y" can be installed when "foo-bar-u.v" is already
		installed, without recognizing foo-bar-u.v" as an old
		version of "foo". [hubertf 1999-06-14]

	bsd.pkg.mk: add a "show-distfiles" target, which is used to
		show the names (and subdirectories) of packages'
		distfiles and patchfiles, relative to ${DISTDIR}.
