technically it's only an acronym if you can pronounce it as a word. I'd
call "acronym" an acronym but 'awfl' is an abbreviation unless you claim
to pronounce it 'aweful'.  'TCP' is an abbreviation, not an acronym.

(sorry, this is one of my pet-peeves)
