Just for the record:
Color is very easy to abuse. It can also come up muddy if a
black-and-white display (or low-color display) is used. (Or, imagine
someone printing a poster of it, or making a transfer for a tee-shirt.)
I think that the current NetBSD logo is at once clean and elegant, while
communicating a point about teamwork. Hey, what a concept! That reminds
me of my favorite OS... Clamboring over a pile of old computers to stake
a territorial claim is another nice metaphore.
I'd rather that not a pixel be changed in it, myself. People looking for
colorful flash movies and whatnot can dig those up on other sites.
(Though I concede that I liked the pictures of the girls that someone put
up on a page. Their tattoos were very tasteful and elegant. (^&)
(Also, that's not to say that I'm firmly opposed to the idea of ever
changing the logo. But there is *nothing* wrong with what we have, in my
eyes. Replacing it would hopefully be done from the vantage point of
actually having a better alternative, than from a desire to remove a nice
bit of fitting artwork.)
