Last I recall hearing anything, it sounded like:
NetBSD for some ppc-specific stuff
FreeBSD for some md kernel goop
NetBSD and/or FreeBSD for userland stuff
...
The NetBSD and FreeBSD references are something along those lines, but
I can't remember where I read it either.
But I never quite understood the bit about the Mach stuff, as I have read
on the NetBSD site that;
"UVM completely replaces the Mach based 4.4BSD VM system"
and that many other parts of the Mach-based kernel have been updated to
improve reliability and performance.
