   I'd rather not.  That has the potential to turn into a pricewatch-type
   database.. and I'd raher not go there.  All that field is meant to do is
   distinguish between a $100 ethernet card, and a $1000 ethernet card.

That's exactly why I said "not linked to this stuff."  What I imagined
was a completely orthogonal set of information aimed at answering the
question:

	What vendors have NetBSDers found reliable/reasonable/... and,
	in general, what sort of hardware (e.g., only deal in network
	switches or motherboards or general stuff ...) do they carry?

Definitely undesirable to link these two for the reasons you mention.
