anyone know the proper ipf and/or hosts.{allow, deny} entries to plug the
holes opened by 'portmap -i'? That would be the one thing I'd add to the
   how-to.

I'v used the following in my hosts.deny file(s):

	portmap: ALL EXCEPT .eldar.org, localhost

on all my machines for a while now. It seems quite effective. I also
tried Framemaker some more, and it appears that the above is still in
force with 'portmap -i'.
