Good point. Your post was, I now see, very well-suited to the audience of
that guy's question. I am continually making mistakes of this form--I am
a lot more concerned with what I can disagree with in order to make some
Point, than I am with the actual merits of what I'm replying to. which was
particularly a problem with your post, since it went out to several
mailing lists and was unfairly judged by my narrow criteria, to the extent
that i am ever a fair judge of anything, or even as particularly
interested in the quality of Post X as I sound when i write stuff.
Thanks for your patience and for not taking me too seriously, and sorry
for responding harshly to your useful comments, which should have been
much better-appreciated. It would have been more appropriate and
productive for me to clearly and overtly respond to something about the
state of affairs in general rather than your particular posting--i took
the easy way out.
