What is not asthetically pleasing about it?
I find animated gifs, banners, counters, javascript scrollers and
all that rather displeasing, both functionally as asthetically,
on webpages.  I'm quite sure many others do as well.  Should
www.netbsd.org look like a porn site?  It looks professional and
easy to navigate the way it is now, imho.
