Speaking solely as a user, this is one of the things I like about NetBSD.
IMHO, it seems difficult for "personality" and "technical merit" to
coexist as organizing forces.  Maybe this is one of the things that tends
to put pressure on core; dunno.

However, I trust the "core group" model infinitely more than I trust the
"design by executive fiat" model.
