FWIW, Check out Computer Shopper.  Dirt Cheap drives (800-473-0960)
has the 3601 for $289 (internal, drive only), $389 for the external.
(I paid $355 for a 3501 at DC drives last Nov or so).

I've placed 3 or 4 orders with Dirt Cheap drives.  Good service &
prices, quick delivery.  I have no complaints about them.
