A while back I submitted a message indicating that NetBSD wouldn't
boot my on SE/30. I followed all your instructions (thanks), but
to still no avail.

This morning I removed the Lapis 24 card and voila, it works.
This went against my experience with UNIX. If a device driver
isn't present, then the boot process just skips over it. You'll
never be able to access it.

Why isn't this the case with NetBSD?

David Condon discussed configuring the kernel with a Lapis about 3 weeks ago.
I'll begin my search there.
