Its part of the Internet craze and all of the rookies who think that Unix
is something new and that Linus has recreated the known Universe. ;-)
Its sort of like Transformers and PowerRangers and is probably a passing
trend. :-) Marketing profs claim its best to be first and it is the first
fully functional 'free' Unix for the IBM PC. Kernel drivers and code
inclusive. Never mind that the kernel is based on Minix and is obsolete
technology. Plus it is oriented toward 8/10 of the world... PC owners,
lets face it BSD WAS initially oriented toward the VAX the USH and then
Sun when it became the USH. PCs have always been looked down upon until
the 386 chip came out. Intel is not a favorite of most Unix kernel and
compiler creators.
