Because I didn't know it was necessary. It's not necessary on my MacII.
Hmm... I think it worked on the old kernel for the same reason that the
IIsi/ci did not. I.e., the '030 models with flat memory space happened
to work with the same code that works on the II.
I'll add it to the README.late.
