If you login as root and check the disk usage it will probably be
less than 100%.  10% extra is saved from the users because the file
system performance goes into the toilet when there is less than
10% free.  Thats one reason you can tweak the file system to optimize
for space or time.  The file system automatically goes into space
mode under 10%.  This is from memory but i'm fairly sure its correct.
