Drives not found on mfii PERC H330 in HBA mode?

I have picked up a Dell T440 which comes with a PERC H330, supported by the mfii driver.

Configured in RAID mode everything seems happy, but in HBA mode the drives are not detected. Booting a Linux Mint USB drive shows the drives just fine.
