hmm, i just noticed my build did this:

... AR=ar RANLIB=ranlib NM=/var/obj/evbarm-aarch64/usr/src/tooldir/bin/aarch64--netbsd-nm ...

when building tools/gcc.  this seems weird to me.

why is it "host" ar/ranlib, but *tools* nm?
