Ah...I found me a new bug then. Try the patch anyway.

The other machines I have access to all run Windows, so no NFS--
far less NetBSD--on them. Tried with a loopback NFS mount and tar worked just fine. Even with your xemacs-21.4 files. Other files with
Kanji/Hangul filenames also worked fine (even with a "C" locale).
