Or did I miss something besides deleting everything in DESTDIR and RELESEDIR?

I forgot to say that /var/db/dhcpcd has been deprecated for new builds so it needs to be removed. A check through our set lists tells me that we can't obsolete directories so I think it needs to be manual.
