Why would I see

(It was up to 10% CPU - I was wondering why the fan came on) when I
haven't had anything in the sdhc slot at all this session?

I see

/netbsd: sdmmc0: couldn't enable card: 60

in /var/log/messages. There isn't a card to enable...
