I've seen this under 6.1.X as well, and possibly earlier (6.0?).
Unfortunately, I don't have any kernel dumps or even traces to
provide :( 

In my case I'm using amd, with lines like:

u2  type:=nfs;rhost:=somehost;rfs:=/u2

in /etc/amd/map and no special options in /etc/amd.conf .
