Problems with IPMI and wm? sharing a physical Ethernet port

Hi,

I recently installed NetBSD/amd64 -current on a system with a
SuperMicro main board (X7SPA-HF) with an Intel Atom D525 CPU.
The system has an integrated Baseboard Management Controller (not
an add-on module) that supports the IPMI protocol. The services
of the BMC may be accessed from another computer over IP through
one of the on-board Ethernet ports (wm0 in NetBSD). I have used
ipmitool from pkgsrc for this. As long as NetBSD has not booted
yet (after power-on) this works fine. Once NetBSD has booted, I
can no longer communicate with the BMC (although for some reason
it still seems to support ARPs). As far as I can tell from the
documentation, the BMC and whatever host operating system is used
should be able to share the Ethernet port (on various web sites
this is called sideband mode). The host Ethernet controller and
the BMC each have their own MAC addresses. It's not clear to me
whether the board has some kind of switch hardware, or the two
Ethernet controllers just share the PHY hardware.

The Ethernet controllers on the main board are Intel i82574L
chips, and have Marvell 88E1149 Gigabit PHYs. See a full dmesg
below (I modified the dev/mii/makphy.c file so that this
particular PHY would be recognized again. For some reason it has
been commented out. Prior to this, the PHYs appeared as ukphys,
but the IPMI services still disappeared after boot.)

I have poked about a bit in the BIOS, but could not find anything
there that would seem to have a bearing on this problem.

I note that a similar problem involving the Broadcom chips
supported by the bge driver was registered as PR/32767, and
subsequently fixed (or so it would seem).

So, any hints to what I might do to make NetBSD and the BMC share
the Ethernet port? Should I file a PR?
