I got the bits from:

-rw-r--r-- 1 mlr wheel 158317883 Mar 12 18:59 xsrc.tgz

from the tars (source) included from the binaries that the 6.0 Beta
announcement directed me to.

This is the tar -tvzf entry in the tar file:

-rw-rw-r-- 1 root wsrc 7549 Aug 2 2011
usr/xsrc/external/mit/xorg-server/dist/hw/xfree86/loader/sdksyms.sh

no, I forgot, and didn't use -p to unpack. That's how I ended up with
644 permissions, instead of the 664 permissions in the tar file.

But, as I compiled it as root, it seemed to go OK anyway. Should I
be worried, untar again, and re-compile?

Yours,

-Mike
