The change for ls(1) should be modified to use printf(3)

(There are two man pages for printf, 1 for printf(3) and one for printf(1) - perhaps that's why you didn't find the %'<format>?)

IMHo, the commaize_number changes including those in ls(1) should be
backed out.

hmm... the printf man page I was looking at didn't have a mention of that.

Why should the change to ls be backed out?  Is there something wrong with
displaying the sizes with commas?
